INSTAGRAM

It's important to me to stay creative and inspired as a photographer. One of the ways I've been able to do that is through my Instagram feed. I don't have a particular focus with my images; I use it as a way to document my day to day life, and share the way I see and experience the things and people around me. It's an art form in itself, and it challenges me to create what I hope are compelling images with the simplest of means; my phone. I was recently named a Suggested User by Instagram, which blew up my account and gave me over 20,000 followers in a couple of weeks. I've come to see it as a community of creatives rather than just another app, and it's become a valuable part of both my business and my personal life.

I've had a lot of people ask me how I was able to be successful using Instagram, and I don't think there's an easy answer. It's more than just hashtags and mentions. But the best way to become an effective user, and maybe even a Suggested User, is to share good photos.

Post quality, original images. Interact with like-minded people. Like. Comment. And be authentic.

Aside from about five images that I imported from my blog, the images in my feed are all taken with the iPhone 5. I believe that is the purpose of Instagram; to create images quickly and without the tools of a professional photographer. You can view my collection here.

These images are from my Instagram feed, and were all taken and processed with my iPhone 5.
